Ultra Pain Relief Cooling Pillow Review: Cozyplayer's Contour Pillow for Side Sleepers
The bottom line of this Ultra Pain Relief Cooling Pillow review: Cozyplayer's contour pillow is a low-cost way for a side sleeper with an average frame to try a cervical shape, but it is a fixed foam block about 5.1 inches tall, and the boldest numbers on its listing are not backed by anything I could find. This is a research review, not a hands-on test. I read the Amazon listing in full, Amazon's summary of buyer reviews and the published research on contour pillows, and our editorial process page explains how. Below: what it is, who it fits, what buyers say, and three alternatives for frames it doesn't suit.
Ultra Pain Relief Cooling Pillow: what Cozyplayer actually sells
The product is sold under the brand Cozyplayer, but the listing title starts with Ultra Pain Relief Cooling Pillow, which is the name most shoppers search for. It ranked #1 in Contoured Support Pillows on Amazon when I read the listing on October 13, 2026.
Here is what the listing states:
- Size: 23.2 x 13.4 x 5.1 inches, with a note to allow a measurement deviation of 0.5 to 1 inch because it is measured by hand
- Core: memory foam, described as 98% breathable memory foam
- Case: a cooling case with a 3D mesh design, made of 62% polyester, 30% nylon and 8% spandex; care is listed as machine wash
- Shape: a hollow, concave center the listing says is tilted at 15 degrees, plus what it calls six contour zones for the neck, shoulders and arms
- Height adjustment: rotate the pillow 180 degrees, or remove the bottom insert
- Trial: a 100-night trial, stated in a bullet and again in the brand's FAQ
Two details are easy to miss. First, the size: at roughly 23 by 13 inches, this is noticeably smaller than the rectangular pillows we cover; the Coop Original, for comparison, is listed at 29 x 19 inches. If you move around a lot, there is less pillow to land on. Second, the brand FAQ mentions 10-year support. It does not call that a warranty, and it doesn't define what support covers, so I would not treat it as one.
The listing also tells buyers to air the pillow out for 48 hours because memory foam may have a slight odor, to keep the head and neck in the central support zone, and to expect up to two weeks of early discomfort while the body adjusts. It adds that anyone with a serious cervical spine condition should consult a doctor. That last note is good advice for any pillow.
2 ways to change the height, and what 5.1 inches means
The listing gives one height, 5.1 inches, and says you can change the contour by rotating the pillow 180 degrees or by removing the bottom insert. It does not publish the height of each orientation or the height without the insert, so I can't tell you the exact numbers. What you can count on is a small set of fixed options, not the continuous range of a fill-adjustable pillow.
Is 5.1 inches about right for a side sleeper? It depends on your frame and mattress, because there is no evidence-based universal answer; a 2021 review in Healthcare found no firm conclusions on the optimal pillow height for side lying. The practical guidance gives a range. The Sleep Foundation's side-sleeper guide says side sleepers usually need at least 4 inches and that broad shoulders may need more than 6. Its neck-pain page suggests 3 to 5 inches for side and back sleepers. So 5.1 inches sits comfortably inside the first range, just above the top of the second, and below the broad-shoulder figure.
Mattress firmness shifts that. A firmer mattress needs a thicker pillow because your shoulder won't sink, while a topper or pillow-top needs a thinner one, according to a Cleveland Clinic chiropractor. On a plush bed, 5.1 inches might be plenty for a broad-shouldered person. On a firm bed, it may be too low.
If you want height you can tune in small steps, an adjustable fill pillow is the more flexible design; our Coop Original Adjustable review covers the best-known one.
Do contour pillows work better for side sleepers?
The research is genuinely mixed, and it is worth knowing before you buy any pillow with pain relief in its name.
On the skeptical side, a randomized field study of 106 side sleepers found no evidence that a foam contour pillow has advantages over regular-shaped pillows, per the Manual Therapy abstract. A blinded lab trial from the same research group found that the shape of a foam pillow, contour or regular, did not significantly alter cervico-thoracic spinal slope in side lying. A 2025 systematic review found no particular pillow type, latex, foam or standard, clearly superior for chronic neck pain.
On the supportive side, Harvard Health advises side sleepers to use a pillow that is higher under the neck than under the head, which is the basic idea of a contour design. A Cleveland Clinic chiropractor says cervical contour pillows work best for most people, and Johns Hopkins notes that a supportive pillow designed to cradle the neck could be helpful for neck or shoulder pain. The Sleep Foundation says a pillow's shape and height are the most important factors and lists a cervical pillow as one option.
Put together: a contour shape is a reasonable choice, especially if you like the feel of a neck roll, but it is not proven to beat a well-fitted regular pillow. Getting the height right for your shoulders probably matters more than the curve. Our cervical pillow for side sleepers guide covers this evidence in more depth.

A good fit for average frames, a poor one for broad shoulders
It fits best if you sleep mostly on your side, have shoulders of roughly average width, and want a contoured neck roll rather than a flat-topped pillow. It may also suit people who switch positions: the listing title names side, back and stomach sleepers, and says the hollow center is meant to cradle the head.
It is a weaker fit in three situations:
- Broad shoulders on a firm mattress. At 5.1 inches, it falls short of the Sleep Foundation's over-6-inch figure for broad shoulders. The Royal Therapy contour pillow is sold in an Extra size listed at 6.5 inches, and our broad shoulders guide compares taller options.
- Petite frames or a soft mattress. You may want something lower. The UTTU Sandwich pillow lists four heights from 3.2 to 5.2 inches, and the VYLEE cervical pillow has edges listed at 3.9 and 4.9 inches.
- Restless sleepers. The smaller footprint means less surface when you roll.
As for feel, memory foam is viscoelastic: it molds to the shape pressing on it. If you dislike sinking sensations or want a bouncier pillow, latex is the main alternative; our guide to memory foam vs latex pillow for side sleepers explains the difference, including why the evidence on latex is more encouraging for neck pain.
Cozyplayer vs VYLEE, UTTU and Royal Therapy
All four pillows in the table above are contoured memory foam, and all of them claim some height adjustment or choice. The difference is how much range each gives you.
Cozyplayer is the budget option with the clearest trial: a stated 100-night trial and a single listed height of 5.1 inches, adjusted by rotating or removing an insert. VYLEE offers two fixed edge heights, 3.9 and 4.9 inches, and a 12-month warranty listed in its Amazon details, which makes it the stronger pick for smaller frames who want a warranty. UTTU's removable middle layer gives four listed heights from 3.2 to 5.2 inches and an OEKO-TEX cover, so it covers the widest low-to-mid range. Royal Therapy has a removable layer too, plus an Extra size at 6.5 inches, making it the one contour option here that reaches broad-shoulder territory; its listing names CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certification.
Firmness labels don't help much: Cozyplayer's listing doesn't state one, UTTU and Royal Therapy both say medium, and no listing can tell you whether the curve will match your neck. That is why a trial matters for this category. For a wider set of options for neck pain, contoured and not, see the best pillow for side sleepers with neck pain.
Amazon buyers on neck relief, cooling and value
Amazon's summary of buyer reviews is clearly positive. It says customers find the pillow effective for neck pain relief, with one noting it wakes them up pain-free. It reports positive feedback on support, describing the pillow as cradling the neck, and on sleep quality, with customers saying they can't sleep without it. Buyers also appreciate its cooling, its functionality and its value for money.
The summary text names no recurring complaint, but that is not the same as no complaints: Amazon's aspect tags on the same listing still show negative mentions under every theme, including neck pain relief and cooling. A summary condenses the main themes, and it describes how buyers felt rather than measuring anything.
For care, wash the case per its label; the listing says machine wash. Do not machine wash the foam core: the Sleep Foundation warns that solid memory foam should not be machine washed because it can crack or degrade. Its replacement guidance puts memory foam pillows at 2 to 3 years.

Cozyplayer contour review: common questions
Who makes the Ultra Pain Relief Cooling Pillow?
Cozyplayer. The Amazon listing title begins with Ultra Pain Relief Cooling Pillow, and the brand shown on the listing and in its details is Cozyplayer.
How tall is the Cozyplayer contour pillow?
The listing gives 23.2 x 13.4 x 5.1 inches and asks buyers to allow a deviation of 0.5 to 1 inch because it is measured by hand. It doesn't publish separate heights for each orientation.
Is it good for side sleepers?
For side sleepers with average shoulders, the 5.1-inch height falls within the Sleep Foundation's at-least-4-inches guidance. Broad shoulders may need over 6 inches, and petite frames on soft mattresses may want something lower.
Is the height adjustable?
Partly. The listing says you can rotate it 180 degrees or remove the bottom insert. That gives a few fixed options, not the fine control of a pillow with removable loose fill.
Does it really cool you down?
Amazon's buyer summary says customers appreciate its cooling. I found no clinical evidence that a cooling pillow cover lowers temperature, and the listing itself says the effect depends on the person and the room.
Does it smell when new?
The listing says memory foam may have a slight odor and recommends airing it out for 48 hours before use.
What is the trial and warranty?
The listing states a 100-night trial. The brand FAQ mentions 10-year support, but it is not described as a warranty, so don't rely on it as one.
Will a contour pillow fix my neck pain?
The evidence is mixed. One study of 106 side sleepers found no advantage for foam contour pillows over regular shapes, and a 2025 review found no pillow type clearly superior. Ongoing neck pain deserves a clinician's assessment.
Why does it feel strange at first?
The listing warns that early discomfort may occur for about two weeks as you adjust. If it still feels wrong after that adjustment period, the stated 100-night trial is the time to decide.
Can I wash it?
Wash the case following its label; the listing says machine wash. The Sleep Foundation advises against machine washing solid memory foam because it can crack or degrade.
Cozyplayer or UTTU for a small frame?
UTTU lists four heights from 3.2 to 5.2 inches, so it reaches lower. Cozyplayer's single listed height is 5.1 inches. If you are petite or on a soft mattress, the lower options usually make more sense.
